Vietnam is home to 54 ethnic groups and a visit to this region allows you explore the local traditions and cultures which have remained largely unchanged for centuries (though, interestingly, you can sense that the region is stepping into modern times).

Hanoi to Sapa & Cat Cat
Trekking to Cat Cat & Sapa beauty.
After breakfast, we will embark on a 6-hour drive through the exotic landscapes of North Vietnam to Sapa. On arrival in Sapa, settle into your room with lunch and some time to relax. In Cat Cat you will get a close-up look at the unique traditional houses of the Hmong people – simple wooden structures bordered by beautiful stone walls. We trek further down to the valley bottom and the waterfall where the French built a Power Station. Overnight: Sapa
This afternoon we embark on a guided trekking foot-adventure and wind our way downhill past terraced fields to reach Cat Cat, home to the Black H’mong people.
Our guide will also show you some of the daily life activities of the locals.
While enjoying a stunning landscape and scenery along the walk, our trek ends at the edge of the Cat Cat village where we are met by your driver and transfer back to Sapa.

Day 3:
Y Linh Ho and Lao Chao
Explore Sapa. Black H’mong & Giay people
Today you will have more time to soak up the picturesque scenery and further explore the area’s heritage-rich ethnic villages.
We start a rich day from the town of Sapa, here we will trek along the terraced paddy fields, flowing streams and local houses to the peaceful Hmong village of Y Linh Ho and Lao Chai, where Black Hmong people live in small clusters along a tranquil river.
You might see freshly dyed fabric drying in the sun and the indigo plants growing beside the path, or be invited into a home to see their local crafts.
A wonderful experience filled with warm personal interactions.
We enjoy a picnic lunch in Lao Chai to continue our walk through rice terraces and local paths to the Giay village of Ta Van.
Ta Van is the only village in the Sapa area where the Giay people live.
This ethnic group traditionally fished for a living hence established themselves close to rivers.
They have mastered the art of fishing with bamboo sticks and an interesting way to cook the fish inside bamboo.
Nowadays however you are more likely to see the Giay working in fields planting or harvesting rice.
